Arctic char camp in West Greenland, 8
days
(4220)
Join us on a trip to one of Greenland’s best arctic char
rivers! On the west coast near Maniitsoq we fish for arctic
chars up to 5-6 kg in a fantastic surrounding. We’ll have
the river all to ourselves and sleep protected in recently
built hunter cabins.

Our fishing river is located approximately
one hour by boat south of
Maniitsoq
and perhaps the best artic char river in Greenland. Here 5
kilo chars are waiting for you and beasts of 6 kg are not
uncommon. Even specimens of more than 7 kilos have been
caught!

During our stay we’ll have the river all to
us. No risk of meeting another group who might compete with
us for the best places.

The distance from the fjord to the waterfall
is about 5 km. While walking alongside the river’s crystal
clear waters it’s easy to spot the arctic chars. An
interesting way to catch them is to sneak down to the
water’s edge, slowly drop the hand into the water just
behind a fish, move it up to it’s neck and take it out, just
like that. Well, “just like that” may not be the right
expression. Some practice is indeed needed to get it
working.

The camp has two newly built hunting cabins. We’ll sleep in
one of them and cook and sit together in the other. For sure
a lot of time is spent outside, the surroundings are just so
beautiful. Having the opportunity to go inside if needed
comes in handy, though.

Our guide:
Oskar Andersson worked for us as fishing guide in Greenland
in 2011. He’s got 15 years of experience in fishing in
Nordic countries, mostly in the clear water rivers of
northern Norway.
Oskar is a real wilderness guy who loved to be out in the
nature since his childhood days and has since then been on
various discovery journeys.
He has a broad knowledge of all types of fly fish, be it a
small river trout or a big salmon.
During his year in fly fishing he has helped many people to
get going with throwing techniques as well as fly tying.
